Fifa World Cup 2014 Theme Song “We are one (Ole Ola)”
Even those who do not follow football can remember the anthem of the previous World Cup (2010), titled „Waka Waka“ and performed by attractive and world-famous Shakira, who is the wife of soccer player Pique. That anthem has overtones of Africa, quite appropriate to circumstances the host of the previous championship was South Africa. American rapper Pitbull, in collaboration with three other artists, wrote the lyrics and music for the anthem of this year’s World Cup, of course in Latin rhythms. The song is called „We Are One (Ola Ola)“, and it could be concluded from the song title that the idea for it came from chess maxim „Gens una sumus“ („We are one people“). However, this version of football anthem is not so universal and has three versions – in Portuguese, Spanish and English. At the opening of the World Cup, at the stadium „Maracana“ in Rio de Janeiro, the anthem of the World Cup will be performed by Jennifer Lopez, Brazilian singer Leite and Pitbull.
The song has not appeared in public yet, and publishing rights belong to Sony Music. While waiting for its premiere, you have the opportunity to write and to compose your version of the anthem and send it to Sony Music. The song that the company declares as winner will be performed by Ricky Martin, who sang the official anthem of the World Cup in France in 1998. So what are you waiting for – grab your chance!
