Spain vs Chile Preview
No one expected this kind of situation, and at least the Spaniards, where the official world champion will be looking for a glimmer of hope in the second round to stay in the competition. Debacle against the Netherlands, 1-5, has led Spain into a very awkward position that even two wins does not guarantee passage to the knockout stage. On the other hand, Chile will be happy with a draw, even with a minimal loss, which will significantly affect the tactics of both teams.
Spanish team is extremely good, and despite the disaster in the first match they are favorites in this game. It can be said that the Spaniards were not lucky enough in the first round, because it was certainly one of the factors for their defeat. By that I mean the impact of referee’s decisions and reckless intervention by Casillas. First, the Spanish team scored a goal after Diego Costa faked a foul , so a the referee awarded a penalty for Spain. In the second half, the referee did not call an obvious foul on Casillas, which allowed the Dutch to make a turnaround results. Later mistake of Casillas was the final blow for his team. So, only one detail could have changed the flow of the game and final outcome as well. However, even in such circumstances, a quality team like Spain should not have allowed the kind of humiliation and now the key question is whether they can get it out of their thoughts. They certainly have not forgotten how to play football and they should it prove in this game. Changes in the team are quite logical, but firstly in defense and middle row, while Diego Costa will likely be the first option of coach Del Bosque again.
Probable line-up of Spain (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Juanfran, Ramos, Javi Martinez, Jordi Alba – Busquets, Xabi Alonso – Koke, Fabregas, Iniesta – Diego Costa
Chile did a great job in the first game by beating Australia 3-1, but with a bit of luck because the third goal was scored in injury time. But we cannot say that such a victory was not deserved, because Chile was better throughout entire game. This team is very talented and could be the most pleasant surprise of the championship. Several players of Chile play in Spain so the coaches of both teams do not have a few secrets before this game. Therefore, I do not think that Chile will choose defensive tactics, although only one point would be great for them. However, they will make several changes in the line-up, given the opponent’s style of playing.
Probable line-up of Chile (3-5-2): Bravo – Jara, Medel, Mena – Isla, Vidal, Silva, Gutierrez, Beausejour – Sanchez, Vargas
Spain vs Chile Match Prediction
Spain has been wounded, and it can be a double-edged sword. However, the Spaniards have no choice since only a victory gives them hope for the continuation of the competition. Chile has excellent strikers, so we should not looking for a winner in the bookie, but goals. Over 2.5 Goals.
