Mexico vs. Cameroon Preview
In the second match of the Group A, two national team which probably have the least chances of passing into the next phase of the competition from the group, Mexico and Cameroon, will try to win three very important points in the game against each other.
Mexico has achieved a placement at the World Cup with great difficulty, after a play-off matches against New Zealand, winning them convincingly, 9-3, counting both matches. Efficacy in the game against New Zealand does not show the real picture of Mexico’s national team during qualifying for the World Cup, as they scored only seven goals in ten games in their group. In general, poor execution is characteristic of this team for a long time. Things were not different in the last test before the start of the World Cup, in matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ivory Coast, the ntional teams that are similar to their opponents in this group, Croatia and Cameroon.
Probable line-up of Mexico (4-4-2): Ochoa – Layun, Moreno, Reyes, Guardado – Salcido – Herrera, Fabian, Pena – Chicharito, Peralta
Cameroon has also problems in the battle to qualify at the World Cup, and they are here thanks to matches of the play-off against Tunisia, when they won at home (4-1) and played tied away from the home (0-0). Cameroon played variably in friendly games before this championship, but a draw against Germany, 2-2, shows their hidden potential. Probably the same squad will start the match at the stadium in Natal against Mexico, their first appearance in the tournament and the first game against this team ever in official competitions.
Probable line-up of Cameroon (4-3-3): Itandje – Nyom, Matip, N’Koulou, Assou-Ekotto – Enoh, Song, Mbia – Moukandjo, Eto’o, Choupo-Moting
Mexico vs Cameroon match Prediction
Although the line-ups of both teams are offensive-oriented, it cannot be said with certainty that it will be a match with lots of goals and for enjoyment of spectators. On the contrary, despite the great offensive potential, Mexico has not showed dexterity of attack on previous games. Cameroon also has excellent attackers, keeping in mind above all the brilliant Samuel Eto’o, but the biggest problem of this team lies in the middle of the field, so they rely heavily on the counter-attacks. Good defense of Mexican team will focus on prevention of rapid counter-attacking opponents, so this will be a game in which striving of preserving its own goal will prevail, watching for an opportunity to score a goal that could bring three valuable points. The importance of the game is very large, because a team that lose three points will virtually be without further opportunities in this championship, because the next opponents, Brazil and Croatia, are better. Expecting a cautious game,
