Japan vs Greece Preview

Japan has not been rewarded for their effort in the first match against the Ivory Coast and they are now looking for three points in the match against white-livered Greece. However, this will not be an easy game and it is difficult to predict the final winner.

Japan had a goal advantage from the 16th minute of the match against the Ivory Coast, but Didier Drogba’s entering the game in the second half changed the balance of forces on the ground, so the main advantage of an African team , jump ruled and the Ivory Coast planted their close-range header into goal of Japan in both case. Japan was trying to equalize and win at least one point, but the Ivory Coast successfully defended in the last minutes of the game. Duel with Greece is their last hope, not only due to the fact that Greece has shown a lot of weakness in the first game against Colombia, but also because Colombia will be too tough opponent in the third round. However, Japan need to improve their defense, especially in front of the penalty area, because the Greeks will probably attempt to threaten their goal with shots from 15-20 feet away from the goal. The defense must be deep, near the center of the field, which the Japanese team could implement because they have good players in the midfield.

Probable line-up of Japan (4-2-3-1): Kawashima – Uchida, Yoshida, Morishige, Nagatomo – Yamaguchi, Endo – Okazaki, Honda, Kagawa – Kakitani

What to say about Greece and not to be a great critic? Nothing. I do not believe that Greek fans can say something positive about it. The main tactic of the Greek team has been strong defense for years, so it was surprise to watch how they received three goals against Colombia. There was also a surprise that goalkeeper Karnezis got the advantage over Glykos, and given the circumstances we should expect a change on the goal of Greece in their second game at the World Cup. Also, coach Zaccheroni will likely shift the focus of the game in the middle field, because 4-3-3 line-up would be wrong given the fact that Japanese players are faster than Greeks.

Probable line-up of Greece (4-2-3-1): Glykos – Torosidis, Manolas, Sokratis, Holebas –Maniatis, Katsouranis – Fetfatzidis, Kone, Samaras – Mitroglou

Japan vs Greece Match Prediction

I expect a boring game, without many opportunities to score. No Goal Before 29:00.
