Ecuador vs France Preview
The winners and runners-up in the Group E will enter their matchup with different motives. France has relieved of the final outcome of this match because it is completely safe on the first place, while Ecuador chases victory to not depend on the outcome of the other match in this group.
Ecuador has a better goal difference (3-3) than Switzerland (4-6) and even defeat in this game does not mean end of the competition. Of course, they do not want to depend solely on ability of Honduras to confront Switzerland, but they will attack France to achieve a victory for ensuring the placement in the World Cup knockout stage. It looks like a big bite for them, given that despite the victory Ecuador has not been brilliant against Honduras, which is a much weaker team than France. Therefore, the coach Rueda will have to make some changes in the team for this match. Ecuador has very good players in all positions, but striker Caicedo has played below expectations in the previous two games, so I expect Arroyo to take his place in the starting line-up.
Probable line-up of Ecuador (4-2-3-1): Dominguez – Paredes, Guagua, Erazo, Ayovi – A. Valencia, Minda, Noboa, Montero – Arroyo, E. Valencia
France won the maximum six points and scored eight goals in the first two rounds. In the first round they defeated Honduras 3-0, and Switzerland with a 5-2 in the second round, so they have virtually secured a place in the next round of the World Cup. In addition to Germany and the Netherlands, the French defend the honor of European football, given that the other European national teams, which have been winners of the World Cup, have absolutely disappointed. Goal difference guarantees them the first place in the Group E, so they can play relaxed the third game. I guess they will try to keep the ball in their possession most of the time and thus keep the players of Ecuador away from their goal, similarly as in the first round against Honduras. Because of that, there will probably some changes in the starting line-up compared to game against Switzerland.
Probable line-up of France (4-3-3): Lloris – Sagna, Varane, Koscielny, Digne – Pogba, Mavuba, Matuidi – Sissoko , Benzema, Griezmann
Ecuador vs France Match Prediction
Given what we have seen in previous matches, we can be sure that the French will have a ball in possession more than their rivals, which will produce shots on goal less number of shots on goal since the final score has minor importance for them. Therefore, I expect more than two goals in the game, but not in the early stage of the match. No Goal Before 29:00 & More Goals in the 2nd Half.
