Colombia vs Greece Preview
After a period of stagnation, Colombia is in the top of the world football again, mainly thanks to generation of great players who play for the best European clubs, led by Falcao. However, Falcao is injured and Colombia will have a difficult task to verify the quality from the qualification for the World Cup. As for national team of Greece, the play in the same style in which they once won the European title, regardless of new players and a new coach. The proven defensive tactics will be their main orientation at this championship, so their first match in Group C of the World Cup could be difficult for viewers.
The absence of Falcao from the World Cup has been one of the main topics of sports public in recent days. However, Colombia still has a few very talented players who are able lead the team. James Rodriguez is certainly the first among them. The 22-year-old is a football star already now, and many believe that he has enough quality to become the best Columbian player of all time. Three years of playing for Porto and one year for Monaco are a valuable experience for the young player, so now he is a great technician, mental and physically strong and fast. He is not selfish, so he is a very good organizer, but also a great goal scorer. Colombia is very dangerous on the wings and it could be the biggest problem for the Greek team. In the absence of Falcao, Martinez and Bacca will be the biggest threat to the goalkeepers of their opponents, and coach Pekerman has another excellent attacker on the bench – a new acquisition of Borussia Dortmund, Adrian Ramos, who has scored 16 Bundesliga goals this season.
Probable line-up of Colombia (4-4-2): Ospina – Arias, Yepes, Zapata, Armero – Cuadrado, Sanchez, Guarin, Rodriguez – Martinez, Bacca
Nobody likes the Greek national team, but everyone respects them. They play tough football, relying on the inspiration of the individual, breaks and happiness in attack. Greece has achieved eight wins, one draw and one defeat in the World Cup qualifiers, and even five victories was achieved with a minimum score, 1-0. Konstantinos Mitroglou is the best scorer of the team, but he has not scored a single goal for his new club, Fulham, and he has played very rarely from January. However, defense is the main weapon of the Greek team, which received only four goals in ten qualifying matches. There is no doubt that the defense will be the main weapon also at this championship.
Probable line-up of Grece (4-3-2-1): Glykos – Torosidis, Manolas, Sokratis, Holebas – Tziolis, Maniatis, Katsouranis – Salpingidis, Samaras – Mitroglou
Colombia vs Greece Match Prediction
I expect a ball in the middle of the pitch without much precision shots on goal. so it seems to be worth a bet: Total Shots Off Target – Over 8.5.
