Cameroon vs Croatia Preview

Cameroon and Africa have no choice but to win their matchup to stay in the running for a place in the next round. Brazil and Mexico have four points each, so even a draw in this match puts down chances of Cameroon and Croatia to the minimum. Cameroon is in a more difficult position than Croatia, since they will play against Brazil in the third round.

Cameroon players made problems to the Football Association of this country before arriving in Brazil, because they conditioned their participation at the World Cup with bigger bonuses. This problem was resolved at the last minute, but the players seemed disinterested in the first game against Mexico, so the minimal defeat is good, as it could have been. Referee’s mistakes have contributed to this, since two regular goals of Mexico were unjustly canceled, so the minimum defeat does not show the true picture of strength of Cameroon. It is still uncertain whether Samuel Eto’o play against Croatia, since the 33-year-old Cameroonian player has complained of an injury. This may be part of their tactics, but my guess is that the national team of Cameroon would play better without him because the young talented players would have more freedom. Given the poor performance in the first round, we should expect changes in the line-up, and announced return of Makoun is the biggest gain for this team.

Probable line-up of Cameroon (4-3-3): Itandje – Nyom, Chedjou, N’Koulou, Assou-Ekotto – Makoun, Song, Mbia – Webo, Eto’o, Choupo-Moting

Croatia has a really good team, as it could have seen in the first game when they suffered a defeat against Brazil, more due to some unfortunate moments than errors of the referees. They will have a lot of trouble if they do not throw a conspiracy theory out of their heads, because the contestants must not thinking about minor details in the tournament, but only about how to troubleshoot their own weaknesses. They play in the strong European clubs and they should know how to use that experience in such an important match. Croatia will be significantly stronger in the attack, given that Mandzukic returns to the squad after expiration of the suspension.

Probable line-up of Croatia (4-2-3-1): Pletikosa – Srna, Corluka, Lovren, Vrsaljko –Vukojevic, Modric – Perisic, Rakitic, Olic – Mandzukic

Cameroon vs Croatia Match Prediction

Under normal circumstances, this would be very uncertain match. However, Cameroon seems as an orchestra out of tune, so Croatia should not have a problem to achieve the first victory in the tournament. Croatia -0.5.
