Brazil vs Mexico Preview
This will be the 39th duel of Brazil and Mexico against each other, and the Brazilians have had much more success with 22 wins compared to 10 wins of Mexico, while only seven games have ended in a tie. These two teams have chance to qualify for the next stage of the competition, since they have already won three points, but potential loser in this match could bring itself in an unenviable position before the last round of the group, especially Mexico, which will play against Croatia. However, even in case of defeat they could achieve a placement into the knockout stage, regardless of outcome of the match between Croatia and Cameroon.
Brazil won 3-1 against Croatia in the World Cup opener although they did not look convincing as their fans expected. Croats have disputed penalty for Brazil and disallowed goal of their team, but there is no doubt that the referee’s decision was correct. In any case, the victory in the first round is good for self-confidence of players of Brazil, so we can expect their better performances in the coming matches. However, one should not lose sight of the fact that Felipe Scolari builds tactics according to an opponent with the aim of making the result, not to leave a good impression of the playing style. Therefore Scolari will set the same tasks to the team for this game, where I do not expect major changes in the starting line-up, except of Hulk due to the left leg muscle injury.
Probable line-up of Brazil (4-3-3): Julio Cesar – Dani Alves, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Marcelo – Paulinho, Luiz Gustavo – Bernard, Oscar, Neymar – Fred
Mexico has achieved fully deserving win against Cameroon in the first leg, and referee’s mistakes prevented even more convincing victory. Poor weather conditions (heavy rain) were a big obstacle for both teams to show their best, but Mexico has managed very well with those conditions and looked like a much more dangerous team. Dos Santos was the most dangerous for goal of Cameroon, so Brazil’s defense will pay special attention to this young player of Barcelona. However, Mexico will also be more careful, because they have three points from the first game, so a draw would be a great result for them.
Probable line-up of Mexico (4-4-2): Ochoa – Rodriguez, Marquez, Moreno, Vasquez – Aguilar, Herrera, Guardado, Layun – dos Santos, Peralta
Brazil vs Mexico Match Prediction
Mexico has proved to be a tricky opponent in the past, and they have shown certain potential in the first game against Cameroon, so Scolari will certainly not underestimate the opponent. Therefore, one should not expect a flowing game with a lot of goals, but tactical outwitting. However, the offensive potential of both teams should provide at least two goals, but no more than three because of the importance of the game. 2 or 3 Goals.
