Algeria vs Russia Preview
One can argue about whether Algeria has surpassed expectations or Russia has disappointed, but the situation is such that Algeria has an advantage of two points before the match against Russia, which means that a draw leads this African selection in eighth finals of the World Cup. It seems that such an outcome to be expected with greater reality than an eventual victory of the Russian team.
Algeria has presented itself in a very good light in two previous matches, although they were defeated in the first round, 1-2 against Belgium. They were equal in that game, but their concentration dropped in the second half of the match. However, coach Halilhodzic noted weaknesses in his team and changed a few players for the match against the Republic of Korea, which proved to be an excellent move, because Algeria had lead 3-0 already in the first half. Therefore, I believe that Halilhodzic has studied the Russian team, so there is only a matter of whether he will change something in the team, or the team that won the previous match will play in the same composition against Russia.
Probable line-up of Algeria (4-2-3-1): M’Bohli – Mandi, Bougherra, Halliche, Mesbah – Medjani, Bentaleb – Feghouli, Brahimi, Djabou – Slimani
Russia is overrated team, which plays a slow, tedious and ineffective football. Given that Italian Fabio Capello is coach of this team, defensive tactics of the Russian team has been expected, but we have also expected more modern approach to football that would bring this team in the next round of competition. To make matters worse, the defense made a fatal errors because of which Russia has won only one point in two games. Now, Capello has a duty not only to improve things in the attack, but also to correct mistakes in defensive line of his team. However, his capabilities are reduced to verbal influence, given that there are not many solutions on the bench.
Probable line-up of Russia (4-2-3-1): Akinfeev – Kozlov, Ignashevich, Berezutski, Kombarov – Glushakov, Fayzulin – Samedov, Dzagoev, Kanunnikov – Kokorin
Algeria vs Russia Match Prediction
Russia is one of the most efficient teams in Europe, and the question is whether they are able to score in their most important game of the World Cup. On the other hand, Algeria has no reason to chase a win, so I expect a game away from both goals. No Goal Before 29:00.
